It’s like this:
There’s a house on fire.. and you are the closest person at the time. You ask the person next to you to get the water as you get out the ladder. As you’re going into the fire you then ask them to turn on the water. We are the damn fools going into the fire. And Brooke Shields is the one who is asked to turn on the water. But, instead of her helping save the home. She’s offended that she’s asked. When she’s called out for her irresponsible behavior, she lies and tells a tale. With a beautiful smile, she states that the home wasn’t on fire at all. And to disuede the guilt, she then states that the hero fireman was in fact a thief and he was actually breaking into the home. Sadly, there was smoke and debris that confirms the fire, much like there is a paper trail of financial, town, and family support. The End. |

Last year, we witnessed two of the nation’s deadliest mass shootings. The number of Americans killed with guns spiked to a level not seen in decades. And there have already been a dozen school shootings in the first month of 2018. Unfortunately, President Trump refused to even give a passing mention to this crisis during his State of the Union message last night. Instead, the president and his friends in the corporate gun lobby are trying to get the Senate to quietly sneak through the dangerous “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act” so they can get it signed into law. I can tell you this: organizations dream of the president mentioning their priorities during the State of the Union. You’d think if Trump and the gun lobby were proud of this bill it would have gotten a mention. His silence speaks volumes. But they will still try to pass this dangerous piece of legislation. They won’t stop when they’re so close. And that means we can’t stop either. Can I count on you to chip in $3 before our January fundraising deadline ends to help me stop the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act? The only thing standing in the gun lobby’s way is our willingness to act to stop them. The gun lobby spent $30 million to elect this president and they are waiting for a return on that investment. They’ve already gotten many of the judges they want, but getting the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act signed into law is their crown jewel. Stopping them is our top priority as well, because success means saving lives. But I cannot do it alone. All my best, Gabby Giffords DONATE |
Dear John,
Last night, Trump spoke for eighty minutes. Zero of them were dedicated to gun violence prevention. Despite the tens of thousands of Americans who died from gun violence during his first year in office, Trump's first State of the Union made it clear that gun violence prevention is not a priority -- or even a consideration -- for his administration. At the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV), we know 38,000 gun-related deaths in a single year is unacceptable. We know gun violence is an area which requires attention. And we need you to join us in the fight with a gift to CSGV today. CSGV is working to enact meaningful change even without Trump's support. We are working in states across the country to pass laws that identify dangerous people, disarm abusers, and prevent firearm suicides. We knew from the beginning that Trump was not our ally. And we don't need him. With your support, CSGV can continue to prevent gun violence in all its forms. Please give a gift today. If you prefer to give a tax-deductible donation, please give to our sister organization, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence. Thank you for your continued support. Best, Josh Horwitz Executive Director |

President Trump was silent abt solutions to gun violence in his State of the Union address last night, and now the NRA is gloating. NRA leadership is confident that they'll be able to get their extremist priority policy signed this year, and you don't have to take our word for it: The stakes are high, and NRA leadership is BANKING on their $55 million investment in the 2016 election paying out. This fight is heading to the Senate floor and the gun lobby is going to do everything in its power to ram this bill through. But we've got a winning strategy, and most importantly, you. John, we need your voice: Sign this postcard, urging your senators to OPPOSE the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 (S.446) and to not gut our gun laws. We will deliver every single postcard we gather to your senators. Thank you for lending your powerful voice. Together, we will #StopCCR. When I gave my response last night to the State of the Union, I did so from Fall River, Massachusetts -- a proud American city, built by immigrants and hard work. It was a fitting place to gather as our nation reflects. Many have spent the past year anxious, angry, afraid. We feel the fault lines of a fractured country, and experience that nagging feeling, no matter our political beliefs: This is not right. This is not who we are. It would be easy to dismiss it as chaos. Partisanship. Politics. But it's bigger than that. This administration has turned American life into a zero-sum game -- where, in order for one to win, another must lose. Where we can cut taxes for corporations today if we raise them on families tomorrow. Where we can take care of sick kids if we sacrifice DREAMers. We are bombarded with one false choice after another: Coal miners or single moms. Rural communities or inner cities. The coast or the heartland. Here is our answer: We choose both. We fight for both. We work every day to make sure the strongest, richest, greatest nation in the world doesn't leave anyone behind. Get started right now with OFA. We choose a living wage, paid leave, and affordable child care. We choose pensions that are solvent, roads and bridges that won't rust away, and good education you can afford. We choose an economy strong enough to boast record stock prices and brave enough to admit that CEOs making 300 times the average worker is not right. We choose a health care system that shows mercy, whether you suffer from cancer or depression or addiction. We choose Fall River, and the thousands of communities across the country whose roads aren't paved with power or privilege, but with honest effort, good faith, and the resolve to build something better for their kids. We choose the highest American ideal: the belief that we are all worthy, we are all equal, and we all count. That is our choice. That is who we are. And it's time to fight for it. We don't have a day to waste. Get to work with OFA today: I'm in Thank you. Congressman Joe Kennedy III |
While Serving Newtown, CT., post the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, our efforts to #STOPGunSchoolViolence had become thwarted (we actually were opposed.... a 1st Responder was actually OPPOSED.) by an opportunistic ADA.
