Years ago, I met this woman at dinner... I was a bit crazy (not Brooke Shields crazy as NYPost would have you believe...) but crazy in the form that I was with the world's greatest star!
Celebrity is fame and public attention in the media (sports, entertainment, and politics.) It's usually applied to a person, or group of people. Celebrity status is also often associated with wealth (fame and fortune) and fame can often provide opportunities to make money.
People may also become celebrities due to media attention for their lifestyle, wealth, or controversial actions, or for their connection to a famous person.
First of all, we see celebrity as a useful tool to help those most in need. We do not covet it, nor do we feel a need to attach ourselves to it... That said adulation (or the need of..) is left to those who still haven't learned life's truest value- humanity.
We are however impressed and inspired by heroes.
A hero (masculine) or heroine (feminine) is a person or main character of a literary work who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through impressive feats of ingenuity, bravery or strength, often sacrificing his or her own personal concerns for some greater good.
The concept of the hero was first founded in classical literature. It is the main or revered character inheroic epic poetry celebrated through ancient legends of a people; often striving for military conquest and living by a continually flawed personal honor code. The definition of a hero has changed throughout time, and the Merriam Webster dictionary defines a hero as "a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities". Examples of heroes range from mythological figures, such asGilgamesh, Achilles and Iphigenia, to historical figures, such as Joan of Arc and Gandhi, to modern societal heroes like Rosa Parks.
Our friends are many! From the many celebrities we've met along the way, to the many would be 'regular' folk... when the opportunity has presented itself to discuss our project, The SandyHook CenTer, most have been incredibly supportive. It is after all the worst attack on children this country has ever seen. And if handled correctly, we will use SandyHook as a means to an end.
Through education, and being proactive (like we are doing..) we can and we will #STOPSchoolGunViolence.
When you place the needs of others before yours you seem to attract a lot of support. Whether it's genuine or not, encouragement is support and we take that to the bank.
We cannot #STOPSchoolGunViolence alone. We can as a collective whole.
THAT to me is the beauty of celebrity.
*****if not us, then who!

'every person listed has been generous with their kindness and have expressed their support.
This is not an endorsement nor commitment, but an example of humanity and our gratitude.
